The Homestead Resort is an existing property located less than one hour from Salt Lake City, Utah, that has been in operation for over 120 years, and includes a unique 55-foot high dome called "the Crater" which provides geothermal "hot springs" waters used by guests for therapeutic relaxation.
The resort was recently acquired by a group of prominent local businessmen intent on improving the operations by renovating the hotel, expanding the hot springs features to create a year-round resort destination, and eventually increasing the resort by 300,000 square feet of additional hotel and residential space (which is entitled according to an approved Development Agreement).
The EB-5 funds will be used to recapitalize the property and complete renovation plans. The current owners' will contribute $6 million in capital contributions. This project qualifies as a job preservation project and the EB-5 funds will be utilized to save the project and preserve the jobs.
